Bank continued to expand its branch network in 2008 and 2009. We opened a lot of
offices at locations through the country, bringing the total to 42. Moreover, in
line with our objectives of bringing the bank closer to our clients; we also
operate a number of agencies in some cities to support the retails operations
of our larger branches.
One
of our priorities was to increase the bank’s presence in cities where we have
experience of the local market and recognized substantial growth potential. We therefore
opened four more branches in Tirana and a second office in the cities of Vlora,
Korca and Fier. In Durres, we broadened the base of our operations
considerably, doubling the number of offices to five. The significant expansion
of our outreach in these sic cities has strengthened our position in the
central and southern parts of the country.
Our
second major goal in 2008 was to increase the scale of our operations in rural
areas. To this end, in August we opened a branch in Divjaka, a small town near
the cost in west-central Albania. To bring us closer to our target groups
outside urban areas, we also began using mobile information offices to provide
potential clients with details of our product range and services at market
squares in small towns across eastern, northern and central Albania.
